What is "Nofollow"? | SEO Basics 2019

Nofollow is a HTML attribute assigned to Hyperlinks as a measure to prevent spam by instructing Search Engines to ignore the link for ranking purposes.

This is a value that can be assigned to the rel attribute of an HTML a element to instruct some search engines that a hyperlink should not influence the link target's ranking in the search engine's index.
It is a tag inserted in the link code that communicates to crawling bots and search engines that they should not follow the link, and thus not consider it as a real link.

“Nofollow” is a piece of code that is inserted into a link. The major blog platforms including Blogger and Wordpress automatically put the “nofollow” attribute into comment links.
